Hear No Evil - Chapter 45

The next day, everything was set. On the drive back to her apartment the day before, Sue had finally managed to convince Jack that her plan would work and that she would be okay. He’d had one condition: Jack would be in constant contact with her and would hear everything that she said and she would stay in his line of sight at all times.

Deaf club had gone off without a hitch. Jack and the rest of team had reported seeing no one suspicious in the immediate vicinity. They all had a recent photograph of Price and were scrutinising every man that walked past but so far, he was nowhere to be seen.

Jack was seated on a bench in the park directly opposite the place where deaf club was held. He was dressed as a tramp and covered in newspapers as not to alert suspicion. He watched as he saw Sue leave deaf club with Levi in toe.

“Bobby, she has just exited the building, she should be coming around the corner any minute now.” Jack told his partner.
“I have her mate. Still no sign of Price. If he is going to turn up this is the ideal place. It’s a quiet stretch of road until you come to the next block.” Bobby said.
“Bobby, we have a man fitting Price’s description in view. He is turning onto your block……now.” Myles’ voice said over the radio
“I have him Myles.” Bobby said as he shifted his position to get a clearer view of the man Myles was referring to.

Using the scope that he had set up in the surveillance van, he looked at the man that Myles had just spotted. Checking him against the picture he had he got back on the comm.

“Okay everyone, I have Marcus Price in sight. He is about thirty feet away from Sue. We can’t take him until we are sure that he is after Sue, he might just be on a late night stroll. Jack, D you guys might want to get into position.”

Hearing Bobby, Jack jumped off the bench he was lying on and quickly walked over to the corner that Sue had just gone around. Peering around the side, he could see Sue walking along the sidewalk. He also saw Price walking towards her. He fought the urge to race over to her and pull her out of harms was, watching from his position. He knew that D and Bobby were closer to her than he was and they would do everything they could to ensure Sue was safe.

Jack could tell from his position that Price was getting close and he had still not made any indication that he was out for anything other than a walk. He felt his body tense as Price got to Sue, but just walked straight past her and appeared to ignore her completely. He was about to get on the radio to Bobby when he saw Price turn and grab Sue’s arm.

As soon as that happened, Myles, Bobby, D and Jack all came out of their positions, guns trained on Price. Jack ushered Sue into a nearby doorway with Levi and she watched as the four men in her life cuffed Price and took him to the waiting van.
