Hear No Evil - Chapter 48 - Final Chapter

An hour later, the whole team had congregated in the bullpen. Price had given them all the information they needed and they had recovered Maria Lopez from the warehouse that Price had told them about. She was scared and exhausted but otherwise is good health. They were all having a celebratory donut when Lucy entered. She took Sue to one side.

“Right, now it took some work and I pulled in a lot of favours but I found out who sent that e-mail to Garrett. It was out lovely office services manager Randy!” Lucy said, her hands on her hips.
“Randy!” Sue said, clearly surprised. “I didn’t know he could be so vindictive.”
“That little creep hates to see anyone happy. Now we have to plan our revenge.” Lucy said as she rubbed her hands together.
“Don’t worry about it Luce.” Sue said as she smiled. “I am sure I can think of a way to get back at him.”

At that moment, Garrett walked into the bullpen. Standing by Sue’s desk, her got her attention and addressed the whole team.

“Congratulations on a job well done. Marcus Price has confessed to everything. The DA has decided not to pursue a case against Barbara Casey. We can’t prove that she knew about her son’s activities and stupidity and believing the good in your children isn’t a criminal offence. Everyone, take the rest of the day off and enjoy the weekend.” As cheers went up from the bullpen, Garrett turned his attention to Jack and Sue. “Jack, Sue can I have a word with you both please, in my office.”

As Garrett left the bullpen, Jack walked over to Sue and stood by her desk. Smiling down at her, he offered her his hand and she took it as she stood and followed him to Garrett’s office. As the door was already open, they both entered and stood in front of their supervisor.

“What’s up Ted?” Jack asked, noticing the older men glance at their joined hands but he didn’t release her hand.

Garrett didn’t say anything but indicated the two seats in front of his desk. Jack and Sue both sat down opposite Ted and waited to hear what he had to tell them.

“I shall get straight to point. We need you two to go undercover again.”
